How are different airborne contaminants handled by Air Supply?
- Virus and Bacterial Germs: --------------- Incinerated by the corona discharge
- Odors: ------------------------------------ Oxidized into deodorized compounds
- Chemical Contaminants ------------------ Oxidized into benign chemicals
- Dust and Dust Mites----------------------- Carbonized and vaporized by incineration
- Mold -------------------------------------- Carbonized and vaporized by incineration
- Second Hand Smoke ---------------------- Solids are carbonized and gasses are oxidized
Is corona discharge technology safe?
Corona Discharge is entirely safe and has been used as an effective means of purification for decades by the military and in industry. Corona discharge technology has been used by the military, to destroy toxic biological and nerve agents in the field and in laboratories, and in industry manufacturing "clean rooms" for years.
How does Air Supply 150 mm differ from a HEPA filter?
HEPA filtration devices capture particles (down to 0.3 micron in size), and the filters need to be replaced. Air Supply is a cold incineration device which actually destroys the airborne contaminants. Different contaminants are neutralized and destroyed in different manners, depending on their chemical properties. Air Supply is not a filtration device, and no parts need to be replaced or serviced.
What causes the air to flow from the device? Is there a fan inside?
No, there is not a fan. Air Supply's negative corona discharge sets up a powerful, electrodynamically driven airflow, drawing pollutants into it and ejecting purified air at a 100 feet per minute.
Is the Air Supply an ionizer?
Yes and No. Air Supply is a corona discharge device. An ionizer uses electrostatic precipitation to negatively charge particles. Although a corona discharge device has an ionization effect internally, it uses an electronic plasma incineration, similar to a lightning strike, to destroy airborne contaminants. Corona discharge is able to destroy many more airborne contaminants than traditional ionization. The negative ions which are generated internally are neutralized by the neutral grid of the Air Supply before the purified air is emitted to the users face.
Is Air Supply an ozone generator?
No. Although one of the byproducts of corona discharge is a small output of ozone. A small amount of people are bothered by this minute amount but our experience shows that this is only about 3-5% of its users.
Is the level of ozone output safe?
Yes. OSHA guidelines define permissible ozone exposure limits at 100 parts per billion. Air Supply emits between 26 and 28 parts of ozone per billion, or less than 28% of OSHA permissible levels. However, those who are sensitive to low levels of ozone should not use the Air Supply.
How long will batteries last in the Air Supply unit?
The AS150MM uses lithium (CR123A) batteries that lasts for up to 60 continuous hours. If you are going to be a daily user, you should consider the LIR-500 Wein battery charger which includes 2 rechargable batteries. Each battery will provide up to 500 charges which is like having 1000 batteries or over 4000 hours-5000 hours.
How should Air Supply be cleaned?
Once a week, blow into the screen to eliminate any carbonized accumulation on the emitter or the screen. Also, wipe the grill screen clean. There are no user serviceable parts inside the Air Supply.
Is the Air Supply a medical device?
NO. These are not medical devices although its users who have allergies and asthma have benefited according to user feedback. Users should not eliminate any medical therapy programs unless advised by a physician. If you have a pacemaker please consult your physician before using Air Supply.
